In the 33rd tournament of the 3rd seasonโs league, 29 players from 10 countries participated. There were no new players added to the league. The number of participants in the league remains 83. All the players in the top 10 for this tournament were from Afrika. The breakdown is Ghana ๐ฌ๐ญ - 4, Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ - 3, & Benin ๐ง๐ฏ - 3.
mrjohnson won the tournament, with a perfect 7.0 points. His wins now stand at 19 with 184.5 points. Well done to him ๐๐๐.ย senateur ๐ง๐ฏ placed 2nd with 5.0 points, losing a game to mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ & josty ๐ฌ๐ญ.ย josty ๐ฌ๐ญ also with 5.0 points placed 3rd, losing games to mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ & ayoboss ๐ง๐ฏ.ย
ayoboss ๐ง๐ฏ and ademolaijaya ๐ณ๐ฌ placed 4th and 5th respectively. In this edition the top 3 positions were occupied by players from three countries: Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ 1st and Benin ๐ง๐ฏ 2nd & Ghana ๐ฌ๐ญ 3rd. Well done to them & everyone else who participated ๐๐๐.
We applaud the two female players vivian256 ๐บ๐ฌ & bme ๐บ๐ฌ for participating in this tournament. They really give the rest of the other countries some food for thought. Letโs make greater efforts to encourage and facilitate new players, especially female and the youth to participate in these tournaments.
Overall leader the Oga Ota of Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ mrjohnsonโs lead increased against all player with this spectacular performance. His wins are now 19 out of 33. His score is now at 184.5 points. He is now 18.0 points ahead of issahfuseinji ๐ฌ๐ญ. The difference between him and the other top positioned players has increased to 49.5, 54.0 & 54.0 points respectively.
e17 ๐ฐ๐ฟ is now in the 5th position with 130.5 points with a ๐ฏ participation record, remains on course to become the Asian Champion. He is 54.0 points away from the leading player mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ, and 83.0 points ahead of goldm ๐ฐ๐ฌ the nearest Asian contender, who has accumulated 47.5 points. paulie42 ๐จ๐ฟ with 95.5 points is still in 9th position. His leading margin against incumbent European champion monkftw ๐ฌ๐ง has now extended to 30.5 points. He is on course to claim the European title. He is 89.0 points away from leading player mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ.
American Continental champion daallo ๐ฒ๐ฝ with 64.5 points, is now in the 17th position. He is some 120.0 points off the leading points score. He too is on course to maintain his title, still with a 5.0 points lead ahead of germancali ๐จ๐ด the nearest American Continental contender, with 59.5 points now in the 20th position. It is looking less likely that other players from the different continents will be able to make up the difference and thwart these predictions becoming a reality, except possibly that of Continental America.
New players have not been joining the league in their numbers. Will there be a late surge of new players including master & grandmasters joining the league to add more dynamism to it? Time will tell, as the players from Antigua & Barbuda ๐ฆ๐ฌ, Barbados ๐ง๐ง, Burkina Faso ๐ง๐ซ, Cape Verde ๐จ๐ป, The Gambia ๐ฌ๐ฒ, Guinea ๐ฌ๐ณ, Guinea Bissau ๐ฌ๐ผ, Mali ๐ฒ๐ฑ, Niger ๐ณ๐ช, Sierra Leone ๐ธ๐ฑ, Saint Lucia ๐ฑ๐จ, Togo ๐น๐ฌ are yet to enter the fray.

Do well to recruit players from these teams to participate in the upcoming practice tournaments in preparation for the championships to come.

Therefore If you place in the top 3, and wish to be considered for a cash award, subscribeย for a paid The Oware Society membership before the league ends. The top placed, International or Full members in the female, junior & continental categories will be awarded cash prizes so long as they are Full or International members and enough funds are raised. If enough funds are raised we will consider awarding prizes for country winners, so long as the country is represented by 5 or more players, and is not in the top three or a continental champion.
