Thirty-four weeks into the 2nd season of the Individual Online Oware League, the number of participants stayed the same at 88 players from 30 known countries. The numbers that participated in this weekโs tournament decreased by 2 to 22 players.
This week mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ regained the tournament title with a perfect 7.0 score. bobstar ๐ง๐ฏ placed 2nd with 5.5 points, drawing with olowolafeabey ๐ณ๐ฌ losing to mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ in their matches. In 3rd place is abilohre ๐ฌ๐ญ with 5.0 points, to complete the top three positions. geotrouvetout ๐ง๐ฏ & ayirungo ๐ฌ๐ญ placed 4th & 5th respectively. Congratulations to mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ for retaining his title & everyone else who participated ๐๐๐.
Once again a very tight & competitive tournament. A game of note was that between mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ & abilohre ๐ฌ๐ญ in the 3rd round. In this game mrjohnson captured 7 seeds but sacrificed 9. Leaving him with just 1 seed in house E. abilohre ๐ฌ๐ญ was left with 4 seeds, 2 each in houses d & e, after his 9 seeds capture. This positioned mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ to win the game by the slightest of margins. Having the foresight to make that particular move is what makes him the serial champion that he is.
With this result the Oga Ota of Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ mrjohnson with 178.0 still leads by an increased 23.0 points ahead of the nearest contender abilohre with 155.0 points. With 18 tournaments to go in this 2nd season of the Individual league. Is it possible for one of the contenders to overtake mrjohnson ๐ณ๐ฌ and win the league? However for those already in the tournament there is everything to play for. Absences, network disruptions and upsets, make the title still up for grabs.
Do well to recruit other players to participate in these tournaments, from your countries in order to enhance your individual & nations scores. This will enable us to surpass last seasonโs tally of 112 players. We have surpassed the half way for the number of players, and the half point for the number of tournaments has been surpassed. With 19 tournaments to go, we are 25 players away from breaking the 1st seasons 112 players.
Please take note, the first three positioned players who are International or Full members of The Oware Society before the league ends, will be awarded cash prizes. Therefore If you place in the top 3, and wish to be considered for a cash award, join The Oware Society before the league ends. If donors & sponsorship can be acquired, and we are able to raise enough funds from member subscriptions we will put in place a prize fund for other categories: top placed, female, junior & continental players who have International, Full or Family membership.
